I want to be a lawyer, and I was wondering of some good undergraduate schools that would help me along my journey?

I am planning on going to law school to become a patent lawyer. I'm wondering if there? more specifically that I should major in it. Now my major? biochemistry. My wife is a lawyer in Peru. She is interested in becoming a lawyer in California. What is the quickest and easiest route for her to take to become elligible to take and pass the California Bar Exam?
Thanks for the two answers so far. I know that of course much studying will be involved, but the main thrust of my question is, what must she do to become ELIGIBLE to take the Bar Exam? I understand that if you are a lawyer from an English Common Law Country (e.g. England) then you can just take the bar exam (presumably after having studied for it, but that is up to you). As a Peruvian lawyer, though, what must she do to become eligible to take the bar exam?
