Jennifer J asked: I am looking to organize a fundraiser to offset costs incurred by individual players on my sport’s National Team. The national govering body for the sport is a not-for-profit organization, but this would not directly involve that organization in any way. Would a sweepstakes with “suggested donations” being payable online be legal?

LiamNZ asked: Is it legal for a school to lock a student in a room (with a locked door on both sides) for purposes of behaviour management?
Could the fire code prohibit this?

Doorrat asked: I have a bottle of liquor that I’d like to sell. Is it legal for me as a private citizen to advertise it for sale and to sell it to another person (assuming of course that person can legally purchase and posses liquor and all that) within the state of Pennsylvania?
I’ve tried to read the liquor code or find some information somewhere, but really everything I find is so voluminous or just written in legalese that I don’t understand.

Do apartment managers have the right to “lock you out” of satellite providers?

Susie asked: A woman aged 24 is willing to give your paper information that might be useful in a feature on juries being reluctant to convict on rape charges. She tells how she was raped while in her teens by her sister’s partner and her ordeal in going to crown court and seeing him acquitted. She has no objections to being identified.
Explain the legal position in reporting this story.

superduke85 asked: Basically it is totally legal to protect your life and property with the gun. If some lunatic throws something at you targeting the fur coat, is it legal to shoot back.
Thing is if someone throws something at you, how do you know what is it? Is it deadly? It is normal reaction to protect yourself.

unNamed 1 asked: Due to the increasingly high cost of doing business I have decided to close down. I was just wondering what exactly are the legal and ethical responsibilities that I have to my employees who have been with me for at least 5 years. Experience-based answers (from employees who have been laid off and employers who had to lay off workers) are more than welcomed.
