Marie Kreamy asked: My spouse and I are planning on getting a divorce. In our state, you have to be separated for 12 months before you can start the legal process. However, due to the economy, we decided to live separated under the same roof. Will this count towards the separation or does separation mean that we have to live apart from each other? How do you prove this?

toccara m asked: I have had 2 lawyers so far who only made my situation worse. One was recommended by a friend, the other by one of those find-a-lawyer call lines. How can you be sure your lawyer is working for you, not against you? I live in a small town and get the feeling they are all friends.

sublime asked: My husband is abusive and I finally have the courage to leave. We have six children and I have been a stay-at-home mother for 12 years. I don’t have access to ‘his’ income or paycheck. How do I hire and pay for a divorce lawyer? I really need some assistance or someone to tell me where to start from. Any advice is very appreciated. Thank you.

Belly asked: I recently left my husband about a month ago, during this period he’s been really emotional and angry at times? He’s never been violent with me but he sent me a text message on my phone stating that if i was seeing someone i might come up missing, and that he would hurt me but we have two kids together so how does the restraining order affect his visitation. I haven’t seen a lawyer because i don’t have the money so what should i do?
