Livin the dream asked: I have a lawn care service and every month on my bill, an additional amount is added on for sales tax. Texas does have sales tax, but is it legal to charge sales tax on a service like lawn care?

Twirly_birdy2 aka Ginger Snap asked: I was about to make an online purchase when I noticed that the sales tax (for Texas) was being calculated after the merchant added the shipping cost. I was being taxed on the shipping and not just the goods. Is this legal in the state of Texas? If no one can answer, what state agency do I contact to find out.

Sidonie asked: Can you please cite your sources. I don’t think it is legal, but I’m having trouble finding a law on it.
A gift card is not the same as a gift. It does not seem logical nor legal to be charged sales tax on the purchase of a gift certificate when the person who uses the gift certificate will also be charged tax.
