My wife and I rent a house in Aurora, CO, and there are only a couple of garbage pickup options. The local company refuses to pick up our garbage because their records show that one of the previous tenants owes a balance. They offered to resume service if I paid off the outstanding balance (I did tell them which garbage can they could stick that offer into).

Any ideas? Legal remedies?
I should add that this debt was before my landlord owned this property.
