How to afford a lawyer for a divorce as a stay-at-home mom?

lawyer
sublime asked:

My husband is abusive and I finally have the courage to leave. We have six children and I have been a stay-at-home mother for 12 years. I don’t have access to ‘his’ income or paycheck. How do I hire and pay for a divorce lawyer? I really need some assistance or someone to tell me where to start from. Any advice is very appreciated. Thank you.
