Is it legal for your employer to make you print your W2 online?

legal
matt asked:

My employer is telling me that I have to print my W2’s online and they WILL not send them to me… I am just wondering if its legal for them to only do that or will they have to mail them to me if I ask.
They are not letting me do it at a facility and they told me if i dont have a computer go to a library.

Not legal. What would you do if you did not have a computer? Max Hoopla

If they provide the facility for you to do so then it’s legal, such as if you can do it from your workplace.

If they don’t provide the facility to do so at your workplace then it’s optional with you. They are required to send you a paper copy in the mail or give it to you if you don’t take positive action to opt out of a paper copy. Bash Limpbutt’s Oozing Cyst©

The employer must have your consent to deliver your W-2 to you online. HHSDad

If you request it on paper they have to give it to you on paper. Many people consider it an advantage to have them available online - is quicker, and if you lose it you can just print another copy. Judy
