What are the legal implications of my boyfriend living with me in a college apartment?

legal
anne adette asked:

I plan on living in an on-campus apartment next year with my boyfriend, who is not a student.

Whether or not we should live together is not an issue, I’m just not sure of the legal implications or consequences I might suffer.

Can he legally use that address as a permanent place of residence even though he doesn’t pay room & board or attend the college?

Is this type of stuff generally accepted/allowed with universities?

That’s against the law. You’ll be evicted and lose your place in college. <3

You will be evicted from college housing and not allowed to reapply. You’ll have to get off-campus housing. Starlight

This is generally not accepted or allowed,, in fact it is never allowed. :)

That is not going to occur. Some dorms are single sex dorms, most dorms require first year students to live in a shared room with single beds, it is rare that single occupancy rooms are provided, and many of the dorms have communal bathrooms.

No mater what is available, your boyfriend will be quickly caught and you and him will be expelled from the dorm. Mike

No, he can’t live there, he can’t even spend the night.

The colleges are really strict about this, any unauthorized person on campus can be arrested for trespassing.

You need to ask your specific university about polices, but none will allow anyone there who doesn’t belong there. There are way to many problems with the students as it is.

If you want to live with him it would have to be off campus, in private housing. There should be plenty of apartments in the area. Janet P
