What states is it legal to own a stingray in your home aquarium?
lovlymandapanda asked:
We just got a 110 gallon aquarium and would like to get a stingray, but are unsure how to go about it. I recently read that in most states in the U.S. it is actually illegal to own one in your home, but we are in the military so we move around a lot and may soon go to a state where it is legal. I just don’t know which states are the legal ones. . . And does anyone have any tips on the care of a stingray? And what other fish can go in the aquarium with it?

Stingrays are very nice creatures!! good choice. the fragility of the stingray actually depends on the species that you are referring to.
Stingrays are very intolerent to bad water parameters and if the ph of the water flunctuates alot, they don’t have scales and will be susceptible to PH burn. Pick a healthy specimen from the shop and you should be able to do fine. =)
Tips: keep your water clean.. and the ph as neutral as possible. good tank mates for your stingray would be fish(as big as your specimen stingray.) that are mid or top dwellers. Gars or Datnoids would be a good choice.
The above comes form my personal experience form keepiong one. all the best to your fish keeping! jonsagenius
